Awol EndrisAwol Endris

Dr. Awol Endris is currently working as program officer for teacher education and curriculum development in the UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa.  The Institute works to build the capacity of teacher education institutions in sub-Saharan Africa.  Dr. Awol coordinates projects in Distance Education, ICT in Education, School Leadership and Management, Women Leadership.  The projects are implemented in many sub-Saharan African countries.

Before joining IICBA, Dr. Awol has had over twenty years of experience as English language teacher and teacher educator at the Bahir Dar Teachers College in Ethiopia.  He also worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature, Institute of Language Studies, Addis Ababa University.  He was also head of the department from 2001 to 2004.

Alain SenteniAlain Senteni

Professor Alain Senteni is the founder Director of the Virtual Centre for Innovative Learning Technologies (VCILT), the initiator and the Chairman of the Lifelong Learning Cluster (LLC) of the University of Mauritius. He represents Mauritius at the IFIP Technical Committee on Educa-tion (IFIP TC3) and is also a member of the executive board of the IEEE Learning Technologies Task Force (IEEE-LTTF). Professor Senteni received an engineering degree, a Ph.D. & H.D.R. (enabling to conduct re-search) in Computer Science, from the National Polytechnics Institute (INPT) in Toulouse (France). Since 2001, he is a member of several ministerial committees for the integration of ICTs in education in Mauritius. His interest in technology-enhanced education dates back to the 70’s, in the Logo community, and later as a professor of educational technologies at the Faculty of Education of the University of Montreal (Canada). His current work regards transformative pe-dagogies, and more precisely the integration of ICTs in educational systems of developing coun-tries with an emphasis on intervention strategies, organisational learning and capacity building for ICT-based development. He is the initiator and the programme chair of the International Conference on Open and Online Learning (ICOOL), held in 2003 in Mauritius, in RSA in 2005, in the context of the 8th IFIP World Conference on Computers in Education (WCCE) in Stellenbosch, and in Malaysia in 2007. Alain Senteni is also co-chair of the education commission of the World Information Technology Forum (WITFOR) held in Botswana in 2005 and to be held in Ethiopia in August 2007. Professor Senteni’s fields of expertise and research interests include : • Open Online Learning, Technology-Enhanced Learning, • Computer-Mediated Communication and Pedagogies, • Innovation and Change Management, • Knowledge Creation and Management, • Developmental Work Research

Paul NleyaPaul Nleya

Dr. Paul Thabano Tapela Nleya, earned a B Ed degree from the University of Botswana in 1981 and an MS in Instructional Systems Technology in 1985 from Indiana University (Bloomington) in 1985. He also earned PhD in Educational Technology and Post Graduate Diploma in Social Science Research Methods from University of Wales (Cardiff). He is currently Senior Lecturer at the University of Botswana, Department of Educational Technology. He has published in referred local as well as international journals. Have served as WITFOR 2005 co-Chairperson in the Education Commission and currently serve as WITFOR 2007 Developing Country co-Chair.
